The Road to Recovery - Volunteers gathering June 2022

Road to Recovery is an Israeli NGO that recruits Israeli volunteers, to drive Palestinians who require life-saving treatment from checkpoints to Israeli hospitals. With 1,200 volunteers providing 20,000 rides annually, we are the largest organization of this kind. Our growing community, of Palestinians and Israelis, transcends politics by giving people the opportunity to change the lives of others through one simple gesture—a car ride.

Dozens of Volunteers gathered on Friday June 9th at Kibbutz Alumim , near the Erez checkpoint on the border with Gaza to share experiences.

The volunteers, from all walks of Israeli live, including secular and religious Jews, city dwellers and settlers, Kibbutzniks and town folk, met with the Palestinian coordinator, Naim El Baida, amongst others, to enjoy a moments of peace and hope.

A couple of days later, I had the privilege of driving four Palestinians

from Bethlehem and Ramallah to Rambam Hospital in Haifa to receive life saving treatments.
